Diablo 2 Couch
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction for up to four players on one screen — one sofa, one hero each.
Couch co-op for Diablo II, built on D2Decomp, an open reimplementation of the engine: one shared camera, one controller and one hero per player, and personal inventories that never pause the game. Linux, the Steam Deck and Windows.
You need: your own Diablo II: Lord of Destruction data

Diablo 2 Couch v0.0.7 preview

Couch co-op preview for Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, built on D2Decomp (upstream 96cca20). You need your own Diablo II + LoD MPQ files; nothing from Blizzard is included.
- Player 1 on a controller (
pad_player1, on by default on a Steam Deck) now uses D2Decomp's new gamepad layout: inventory, character, skill tree, quest log, automap and the menus open from the pad, with a cursor on the stick while a screen is open. Guests' controllers play as before. - From D2Decomp: an optional widescreen view (launcher checkbox, or
widescreen = 1); the party may spread across the wider view. Act IV closer to the original (seals, Hellforge, Diablo), Nightmare and Hell populated like the original, and monsters keep acting while a hero lies dead.
Downloads: Linux tarball (glibc 2.28+, tested starting on Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12, Fedora, Arch), Windows zip, Flatpak (x86_64 / aarch64; carries upstream's app id), macOS dmg (informational).
Not tested by us: real gameplay (no game data on our machines), physical controllers and the Steam Deck. Please report what you find.

Couch co-op preview: Act IV together. Bring your own Diablo II + LoD data (MPQs); no Blizzard files are included.
- Act IV, from D2Decomp: the Pandemonium Fortress, the Outer Steppes, the Plains of Despair, the City of the Damned, the River of Flame and the Chaos Sanctuary with Izual, the Hellforge and Diablo.
- Act IV together: the hellgate takes the whole party to the fortress, whoever steps in; the Hellforge, the seals and Tyrael's portal work as player 1's when a guest uses them, and Hephasto's hammer goes into player 1's pack.
- Diablo's death and the Act IV waypoints count for every guest's save. A boss a guest kills with their own blow (Mephisto, the seal guardians, Diablo) now counts for the whole party, not only for that guest.
- Upstream's own crash reporting (Sentry) is switched off in our builds; our anonymous one-line crash report stays.
Not yet tested by us with real game data, real controllers or a Steam Deck — please report what you find.

Couch co-op preview: Linux support. Built on D2Decomp (upstream Acts I–III); you need your own Diablo II: LoD files.
- Linux: the tarball now runs on any Linux from the last years (glibc 2.28 or newer — Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Arch, SteamOS) instead of only on the newest distributions. Unpack
d2d-0.0.5-Linux-x86_64.tar.gzanywhere and startd2d-launcher. - Every build is now started on Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12, Fedora and Arch in CI before it can be released.
- Gameplay unchanged from v0.0.4.
Download: the .tar.gz or the Flatpak for Linux and the Steam Deck, the zip for Windows.
